Methodology

How we form our guides

Last updated: November 2026

Published by Lannister Mining

Lannister Mining ranks and rates gold companies on project stage, using only facts each company publishes on its own website.

Every comparison on this site is written by Lannister Mining, uses the same criteria and the same kinds of facts for every entry, and states where Lannister Mining has links to other companies. Lannister Mining is not automatically placed first; in both current guides it ranks last because it is the earliest stage.

Question

How are the rankings on this site decided?

Rankings are decided by project stage: production status, the most advanced economic study, and resource or reserve status. These can be checked the same way for any gold company. We do not score grade, valuation, management quality or exploration upside, because those require judgment that a company publishing its own guide should not apply to its peers.

Procedure

Our process

  1. Choose entries across stages

We pick companies that illustrate each step from exploration to production, and disclose team links to Lannister Mining.

  2. Collect facts from primary sources

Facts come from each company's own website or Lannister Mining's own pages, with dates.

  3. Apply one scorecard to all

Every entry is scored on the same criteria. No entry gets extra credit for publishing this site.

  4. Date and disclose

Each guide shows Published by Lannister Mining and a Last updated date. It is not independent and not an audit.

FAQ

Common investor questions

How should I compare mineral exploration companies?

Compare mineral exploration companies on the same criteria: project stage, jurisdiction, size of land package, quality and amount of drilling, resource status, published studies, team track record and access. Use primary sources such as company news releases and technical reports. Our rating guide offers a simple scorecard.

What are the top gold exploration companies?

There is no single official list of top gold exploration companies, because the right pick depends on stage, jurisdiction and risk. Our comparison guide, published by Lannister Mining, ranks four gold companies by project stage using facts from their own websites. Lannister Mining is the earliest stage of the four.

Is the information on this site investment advice?

No. This site provides general investor information about Lannister Mining and gold exploration. It does not consider your circumstances. Read the company presentation and filings in full and consult a licensed financial adviser before making any investment decision.

More in the FAQ

What are historical drill results worth to investors?

Historical drill results show where mineralization was found and can guide new drilling, but they are not a mineral resource on their own. They typically need confirmation drilling and verification by a qualified person. Lannister Mining plans to use its 320 plus historical holes with new work in a future resource estimate.
