Gold exploration investor information

Last updated: November 2026

Lannister Mining is an early-stage gold exploration company: it holds historical drill data at Basin Gulch and is working toward a first mineral resource estimate.

For investors, the Lannister Mining case rests on more than 320 historical drill holes, near-surface gold and silver oxide mineralization, a 1,107-hectare land package in Montana with two-thirds unexplored, and a team linked to K92 Mining and Thesis Gold. The main open question is the size and grade of a future Maiden Mineral Resource Estimate.

Question

Is Lannister Mining a good gold exploration company to research?

Lannister Mining suits investors who want exposure to the step from historical drilling to a first resource in a US jurisdiction and who accept the higher uncertainty of an early-stage explorer. Readers who want published resources, economic studies or production today may prefer later-stage companies, which our comparison guide covers on the same criteria.

The company states that there is a clear premium in the market for S-K 1300 and NI 43-101 compliant gold and silver ounces in the USA, and that Basin Gulch has seen significant historical work, has not been mined out and sits in a premium jurisdiction. These are the company's views, not independent findings. Nothing here is investment advice.

Evidence cards

The Lannister Mining investment case in four parts

Historical work

320+ drill holes already completed

Lannister Mining reports more than 320 historical drill holes at Basin Gulch. Highlights include 1.8 g/t Au over 162 meters from surface and 3.2 g/t Au over 72 meters from surface. The company plans to use historical drilling together with new work programs in a future Maiden Mineral Resource Estimate. Historical results still need confirmation drilling before they can support a resource.

Mineralization

Near-surface gold and silver oxide

Basin Gulch is hosted in oxides, and several highlight intervals start at surface. Lannister Mining cites significant implied mine design optimization flexibility from high grade gold-silver mineralization near surface. Mineralization is described as open at depth, along strike and untested regionally, which defines where future drilling will go.

Land and jurisdiction

1,107 hectares in the Treasure State

The land package holds 11 patented and 53 unpatented claims, primarily on patented land, in the historic Philipsburg Mining District of west-central Montana. Year-round road access runs from Philipsburg, MT, and Butte, MT is about one hour away. Lannister Mining states two-thirds of the property is still unexplored. Team

Executives linked to K92 and Thesis Gold

Lannister Mining says its team includes many of the same co-founders or senior executives as K92 Mining, Fosterville South Exploration, Arena Minerals and Thesis Gold. CEO Jim Greig was a founder, President and Director at Thesis Gold (formerly Benchmark Metals). Advisor John Lewins is the CEO of K92 Mining. Read the team profiles.

FAQ

Common investor questions

Is Lannister Mining a gold exploration company or a mining company?

Lannister Mining is a gold exploration company, not a producing miner. Its work centres on exploring and defining gold and silver mineralization at Basin Gulch. The company describes plans for expansion and confirmation drilling and a future Maiden Mineral Resource Estimate, which are exploration and resource development steps that come before any mining decision.

More in the FAQ

Why would US gold resources trade at a premium?

Lannister Mining states that US-based companies with NI 43-101 compliant resources are trading at a significant premium compared to their peers, and that there is a clear market premium for S-K 1300 and NI 43-101 compliant gold and silver ounces in the USA. This is the company view, not an independent study.

How risky is investing in gold exploration companies?

Investing in gold exploration companies is generally high risk. Early-stage explorers may not define an economic deposit, often need repeated financings and can be affected by metal prices and markets. Read the full risk disclosure in any presentation and speak with a licensed adviser. Nothing on this site is investment advice.

More in the FAQ

Does Basin Gulch have a mineral resource estimate?

Not yet. Lannister Mining says historical drilling and new work programs will be used in a future Maiden Mineral Resource Estimate, and that the property has potential to host a significant one after expansion and confirmation drilling. Until then, historical results should not be treated as a resource.

More in the FAQ

How does exploration for gold work, step by step?

Exploration for gold usually moves from target generation to surface sampling and trenching, then drilling to test targets, then infill and step-out drilling to define continuity, and finally a mineral resource estimate. Later studies assess economics. Basin Gulch has historical drilling and trenching, with a maiden resource estimate planned next.
